N-325: Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security (IINS)

Course Overview:

Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security (IINS) is an instructor-led course. This five-day course focuses on the necessity of a comprehensive security policy and how it affects the posture of the network. TechNow students each get a Cisco Switch, Router, and an ASA. The in the classrom hardware hands-on component of this course is a priority. Using instructor-led discussions, extensive hands-on lab exercises, and supplemental materials, this course allows learners to understand common security concepts, and deploy basic security techniques utilizing a variety of popular security appliances within a “real-life” network infrastructure. TechNow is an Authorized VUE testing partner and this course concludes with the student taking the 210-260 IINS Cisco Certification Exam.

Duration: 5 days

Audience: Cisco Network Administrators. This course is an excellent precursor to Palo Alto Network Firewall Training

Course Prerequisites: CCNA

Course Objectives:

Describe common network security concepts
Secure routing and switching infrastructure
Deploy basic authentication, authorization and accounting services
Deploy basic firewalling services
Deploy basic site-to-site and remote access VPN services
Describe the use of more advanced security services such as intrusion protection, content security and identity management

RH-305:Red Hat System Administration III: Linux Automation with Ansible

Course Overview:

Red Hat System Administration: Linux Automation with Ansible is designed for Linux administrators and developers who need to automate repeatable and error-prone steps for system provisioning, configuration, application deployment, and orchestration. TechNow’s Ansible course facilitates the dynamic IT infrastructure through automation.

This course also supports DevOps practices through Ansible playbooks automating workflows. TechNow has operated Automated Unix and Linux environment for over 35 years and brings this field experience to the classroom utilizing ansible and discussing its impact on: Infrastructure (Linux, Windows, network devices), Cloud automation (AWS and Azure), Application deployment, Security & compliance, and CI/CD pipelines.

This course also ties in nicely with the TechNow course CL-355: Containers, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift Administration which provides an overview of the DoD Enterprise DevSecOps Platform (DSOP) Reference Design, its current state, and ties to DoD Cloud Platform One (P1).

Unix/Linux

Over twenty years experience in the area of Solaris, Linux, and Unix ensures that you are benefiting from a very mature and successful Solaris, Linux, and Unix training program. TechNow offers the full suite of Solaris, Linux, and Unix courses utilizing real hardware. This is not virtualized Solaris on Intel processors, or remote connection to a distant system. The student learns to deal with real hardware taking advantage of Sparc T series processors. Solaris 10 and Solaris 11 is taught hands-on with data center skills as the focus. Instructor comments: The instructor was very well versed on the topic and knew how to apply it to real-life examples. He led the labs and was very excited about the topic which kept the interest of myself and other class members. Sometimes his volume level was a little high- however the room the class was in was very small. Too small for a big personality!

Facilities comments: I was unaware of the facility changes, but that was at no fault of anyone since I was a drop-in for the course. They were very helpful and quick to mediate the issue.
