Course Overview:

This course will provide students with proficiency in the everyday management of Linux based clients and basic management of server system. Students will learn the knowledge and tools necessary to manage Linux systems from the command line, as well as how to manage user administration, file permissions, software configurations, and Linux based clients, server systems and security.  Let us help you prepare for the CompTIA Linux+ exam (XK0-005).

Course Overview:

In this course students will learn to configure the Linux kernel, install & configure modules, to install and configure non-default devices and automate installation with Kickstart. Students also utilize skills developed in L-245 to expand on file system configuration with spanning devices and RAID. This is the foremost server side Linux course in the industry covering all server side components such as DHCP, Samba, NIS, LDAP, inet, telnet ftp, dns, etc.  Expanding on security introduced in L-245: Linux System Administration I, TCP wrappers, firewalling with IP filters, SQUID, & ssh are covered.

N-325: Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security (IINS)

Course Overview:

Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security (IINS) is an instructor-led course. This five-day course focuses on the necessity of a comprehensive security policy and how it affects the posture of the network.  TechNow students each get a Cisco Switch, Router, and an ASA.  The in the classrom hardware hands-on component of this course is a priority.  Using instructor-led discussions, extensive hands-on lab exercises, and supplemental materials, this course allows learners to understand common security concepts, and deploy basic security techniques utilizing a variety of popular security appliances within a “real-life” network infrastructure.  TechNow is an Authorized VUE testing partner and this course concludes with the student taking the 210-260 IINS Cisco Certification Exam.

Course Overview:

Linux System Administration II course is for experienced administrators ready for advanced administration topics. This course provides students with hands-on experience working with more complex and integrated administration concepts, and builds upon the Part 1 course. Instructor comments: The instructor was very well versed on the topic and knew how to apply it to real-life examples. He led the labs and was very excited about the topic which kept the interest of myself and other class members. Sometimes his volume level was a little high- however the room the class was in was very small. Too small for a big personality!

Facilities comments: I was unaware of the facility changes, but that was at no fault of anyone since I was a drop-in for the course. They were very helpful and quick to mediate the issue.
