Are you concerned about your online banking activities? I would strongly urge you to consider using a LiveCD or LiveUSB to carry out all of your online banking needs.
I’m not the only one recommending accessing your online accounts solely from a non-Windows system. The Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC), a industry group supported by some of the world’s largest banks is urging businesses to carry out all of their online banking transactions from “a stand-alone, hardened and completely locked down computer system from where regular e-mail and Web browsing is not possible.”
Malware that is built to steal data from Windows-based systems would not have any affect when the user is booting from a LiveCD or LiveUSB.
Without extensive computer experience, knowledge, time or interest to set up an effectively secure Microsoft Windows® system, it becomes a chore to update software patches regularly, doing a clean/scan for malware with dozens of products (with no guarantee of finding all malware). So one of the LiveCD or LiveUSB clean boot option is my best ‘dummy proof’ recommendation for your online banking security needs.
In other words, use a LiveCD or LiveUSB for your online banking, hence non-Windows system.
